I have been running on and off for 40+ years. My primary school teacher encouraged me to join a running club and I never looked back. I loved winter cross country and trogging through the mud. Fast forward, after a number of years out during my teens and student days I hooked back into running via the London Marathon. I did a few years of road running but ended up chucking out my trainers as I was just bored of the tarmac. I got into hill walking and helping out with a Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) group as a walk leader in Bristol. After doing loads of hill walks and with my daughter arriving I needed to do my hill days 'quicker', so moved across to trail running.

I have done a good number of ultras and personal endurance challenges. I finally nailed a 100 mile trail ultra during 2025. I have also done some zany challenges like running around all Zone 1 underground stations (and down the steps to the platform etc). That was an epic! Another gem was running around all Metro station in the North East - inluding kipping under a tree. The game changer was moving to Wales. I first joined Fairwater Runners, where I am still a coach leading hill and speed sessions. I do my road and cross country races with them.

I started fell running with the South Wales Series several years ago. I was nervous for the first year but that has now diminished. I realised that everyone is supportive and welcoming locally. I love how the same faces support a lot of the local races. It brings a social vibe. I recently started training with Mynydd Du and now run my fell races for this club. I have been Welfare Officer (Juniors) with the WFRA for a year. I have worked with the Welfare Officer (Seniors) to re-vamp the welfare policy. Please contact me regarding welfare issues.

Contact Emma or Neal(Joint Welfare Officers) for: Any welfare issues for juniors and seniors. Neal is based in north Wales and Emma in south Wales, but either can be contacted about any welfare issues across Wales and the Borders.
